Oakland Park Tri-Rail Station TOD
City of Oakland park, Broward County, FloridaDate:
July 2019
ROLE & PROGRAM:
The goal of this study is to review the characteristics of downtown Oakland Park as a potential candidate location for a commuter rail platform. To achieve this goal, the TCRPC has studied and reviewed current development projects within this area (most notably the Oakland Park Square project which includes a new City Hall), existing conditions within the study area, and conducted a series of stakeholder interviews with city elected officials, staff, residents, business owners, and other community leaders.
In addition, the City has envisioned the creation of a public market at the north end of Jaco Pastorius Park. Through this effort, TCRPC engaged WTL+A Real Estate and Economic Advisors, Inc., and RDS Retail and Development Strategies, LLC., to develop a Public Market Assessment to consider other comparable case studies and provide an assessment of the quantity and types of uses that might be supportable in a future public market. The full Public Market Assessment report can be found in Appendix B of this report.
